General Information

The conference will discuss the current state of studies in photobiochemistry and prospects of the development of this area in the coming decades.
Academician A.A.Krasnovsky has laid the basics of photobiochemical studies in Russia. He is best known for his research on photosynthesis, pioneering photochemical study of this process. The discovery by A.A.Krasnovsky of the reversible oxidation and reduction of chlorophyll, later became the basis for modern conceptions of the functioning of the photosynthetic reaction centers. The studies of A.A.Krasnovsky and his collaborators have revealed the molecular organization of chlorophyll in the photosynthetic apparatus: multiple spectral forms of chlorophylls within the photosynthetic apparatus are due to mainly by pigment-pigment interaction. They also have found that pheophytin or bacteriopheophytin are involved in the primary charge separation in the reaction centers of various photosystems. The lecturers at the conference will discuss the following topics:
- primary charge separation in photosynthetic reaction centers;
- regulation of the activity and stability of the photosynthetic apparatus;
- artificial photosynthesis and photosynthetic hydrogen production;
- general photobiochemistry and problems of evolution of photosynthesis.

WE WILL BE GLAD TO SEE YOU AT THE SYMPOSIUM!
